NEWS ITEM
Have you or anyone you know ever thought of owning and running a unique award winning music venue and restaurant with a reputation known throughout Canada and beyond, by musicians and music lovers, for fun, good food and great live music?

This is an opportunity for someone motivated with insight, enthusiasm, an attitude and web savvy to take advantage of our years of networking with musicians and customers and use its potential to take Lorenzo's to another level.

After 14 years of hosting amazing music, a festival, proposals, weddings, anniversaries and private parties of all kinds, I'm considering new options and have decided to sell Lorenzo's. There will be no change in the operation and I will continue to book music and run Lorenzo's as always until a suitable buyer is found.

If you are interested, please e-mail me at: lorne@lorenzoscafe.com for more info. Thanks, LC

SEPT 3rd, FRI ~ THE CREAKING TREE STRING QUARTET ~ http://www.creakingtree.com

2-time JUNO Award Nominees
3-time Canadian Folk Music Award Winners
International Acoustic Music Award Winners
Indie Acoustic Project Award Winners

"The playing is just superb, these guys are fantastic."
- CBC Radio One

"As tight and polished as it is improvisational and exuberant."
- Acoustic Guitar Magazine

"The Creaking Tree String Quartet are a ridiculously talented Canadian four-piece who take the string band sound that is the root of bluegrass and proceed to shatter one's preconceptions. The Soundtrack, their third album, is a technically brilliant and often stunning collection that sees the quartet bringing jazz, classical and avant garde styles to the table and blending them seamlessly into their own irreverent but extremely listenable style. With mandolin, violin, bass and guitar all able to perform their own little flights of fancy, in the hands of lesser mortals it may easily have ended up as a musical dog's dinner; that it doesn't is testament to the skills and ingenuity of all concerned."
- Rock 'N' Reel (UK)

SEPT 10th, FRI ~ HILARY GRIST ~ http://www.hilarygrist.com
Cabaret torch singer, thoughtful folk songwriter and accomplished pianist; Hilary Grist pens playful pop-folk music that is infectious and personal.  Sung with a voice that is captivating and strong, but soft around the edges, her songs have been called 'old fashioned gems'.  Hilary wears it all on her sleeve with unselfconscious warmth.

A musician since the age of four, Hilary was born in Quesnel, B.C. and grew up in Maple Ridge singing along to the Beatles in the family station wagon, playing piano and writing her own little songs when no one was home.  Years of piano lessons and school choir led her to move to Vancouver and continue her music education at the Jazz Studies Program at Capilano University.  Since graduating she has released 3 albums and toured across Canada several times, gaining a steadily growing fan base along the way.

SEPT 11th, SAT ~ ANTOINE (BABY HARRY) CALAWAY ~ http://www.babyharryrocks.com
Antoine Baby Harry - "The King of Rock & Soul" Has been busy on the scene with his Rock & Soul shows touring Canada, the USA, and Europe non stop!

Baby Harry's unique brand of Southern Rock & Roll will shake your soul and make you move and groove.

Baby Harry's music is compared to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Johnny Cash, and Prince all rolled into one rocking, unique "Baby Harry Sound."
Antoine Baby Harry was born in Des Moines, Iowa, USA. He is now based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

SEPT 17th, FRI ~ JASON BUIE  BLUES BAND ~  http://www.jasonbuieband.com
BACK AT LORENZO'S TO ROCK!
Vancouver based Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Jason Buie has played and performed all over the world....throughout Canada, the U.S, Japan and Europe. He has played and performed with such artists as Blues Legend Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor, Jeff Healey, the late Luther Allison and Albert Collins. Jason's debut c.d "Urban Blues" has received rave reviews around the world.
Jason has taken his influences and sculpted them into a style of his own. His music remains a well-seasoned gumbo of blues, funk, rock and soul with influences that originate in the Southern States and inner cities of America. Jason’s from the heart vocals and fiery guitar work combined with a charismatic stage presence have caused listeners and critics to take notice. Jason places great importance on growing as a musician and as a person, and on communicating emotion through his songs. “I want to stay true to myself and not blend in with the current trends. It’s about sharing what I love and what moves me with my audience.” This passion and honesty always comes through in his live shows.

SEPT 18th, SAT ~ SHANE PHILIP ~ http://www.shanephilip.com
Swelling in primordial pulses and wholloping whoops, the tacit tones of Shane Philip's didgeridoo hold the power to still listeners into silence or encourage audiences to rise up in a tribal swell of intoxicating spirit -- with sometimes but a heartbeat in between. Meanwhile his hands will be skilfully juggling between shaking up rhythms with his aslatua, driving the dance floor with his djembe and sliding out grooves on his Weissenborn-style guitar while his foot taps in earthshaking electronic kicks wherever they might fit. He is a one-man show weaving sounds that inspire audiences anywhere he goes.
With numerous musical instruments at hands reach, including didgeridoo, drums, guitars and a Weissenborn, Philip’s exuberant excellence beats out even the most zealous of multi-taskers. A mythological deity in the eyes of single-instrument musicians, Philip keeps his cool and busts out Jack Johnson-ish riffs before building up to a climactic cacophony question period—where you are left scratching your head and wondering just who is playing all those instruments.

SEPT 24th & 25th, FRI & SAT ~ CATS AND THE FIDDLE ~
http://www.thecatsandthefiddle.com
Smokin' hot fiddle tunes, lilting Celtic Ballads, mesmerizing vocals, awesome harmonies and superb musicianship are the hallmark of  “The Cats & the Fiddle” featuring Susan Aylard on violin, Sonja Heide on violin, guitar and penny whistle, Heather Harris on rhythm guitar, Adrienna MacKnee on drums and Natalie Sherwood on bass and guitar.

UNKNOWN DATE ~ GREG SCZEBEL ~
www.gregsczebel.com  Hailing from the Shuswap region of British Columbia, a prime vacation destination just south of Banff National park, singer/songwriter Greg Sczebel (pronounced seh-bell) is just your regular guy-next-door (if that guy was obsessed with music, ridiculously talented and had a heaping helping of ambition). See, Greg's never been content to just cruise around his beautiful hometown dancing in the driver's seat. Instead, he set himself the small task of making music history. And then he started doing just that, intently staying within the indie music scene and still collecting all kinds of accolades. Not only has he won the John Lennon International Songwriting Contest twice but also a Juno Award (Canada’s Grammy) for his debut album "Here To Stay". No hyperbole there, obviously.

LOTS MORE TO COME SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! L.C. REALLY!
